"The essence of any mantra is surrender to the Divine." A.G. Mohan |
The Yoga of Sound Workshops 2010Chanting encourages us to rest in the natural silence of our being. This silence is an enlivening presence that underlies all sound and all experience. As we chant, our hearts can open, our mind can be still, our spirit can breathe - and we are brought back to the silence and the peace that we already are. In 2010 Anahata is offering two types of Yoga of Sound Workshops: 1. Yoga of Sound Workshop - for yoga/meditation students 2. Yoga of Sound Workshop - for yoga/meditation teachers see below for details An uplifting exploration of mantras, kirtan, sound-based meditation
and the spiritual teachings of mantra yoga. We will explore beautiful
vedic chants, chants from the bhakti tradition of devotion and ways
to use sound to deepen our meditation practice and our relationship
with silence itself. Suitable for complete beginners and experienced.
Chanting with others is a rich and inspiring practice and brings depth
and heart to your yoga practice. Detailed handouts and chanting sheets
provided. Date & Times: Saturday 2.00-5.00pm March 20, June 19, September 18 Cost: $60 for one workshop, or $110 for two workshops, or $150 for three workshops Venue: The Gertrude Street Yoga Studio Level 1, 202 Gertrude Street Fitzroy. 3. The Yoga of Sound Workshop – for yoga/meditation teachers 2. Yoga of Sound Workshop - for yoga/meditation teachers This workshop is specifically designed for yoga and meditation teachers to provide them with resources to enhance their teaching with uplifting mantras and sound practices. Mantra yoga gives depth and inspiration to yoga and meditation classes - and these simple practices are easy to teach even without musical experience. A theoretcial framework of four major yoga of sound traditions will be presented to orient teachers in the field of mantra yoga. We will then explore chants and practices from each tradition: beautiful vedic chants, chants from the bhakti tradition of devotion, tantric mantra and nada yoga practices to deepen our meditation practice. We will then discuss ways to integrate these practices into our own practice and into our teaching. This will be a thorough and inspiring overview of mantra yoga with detailed handouts and chanting sheets provided. For those who have not done a Yoga of Sound Course or Retreat with Anahata previously, it is highly reccommended that you do the Yoga of Sound Workshop for students - so that you get the most out of the teachers workshop.
