"When we deeply internalize our embodied experience we can be in the yoga
– and in life –
wholeheartedly and freely."

About Yoga Classes with Anahata

Classes with Anahata emphasise a complete yoga practice. We systematically explore yoga postures and flowing sequences, breathing (pranayama), meditation, chanting, bandhas and yoga teachings.

The classes are a balance of movement and stillness: she combines both a dynamic hatha style of yoga postures and sequences with the subtle practices of pranayama and meditation. We also explore uplifting themes from yoga teachings, such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, to deepen our practice. The flowing approach links movement with the breath and with awareness. This moves energy, which shifts blocks and creates space for growth on all levels of our being. All yoga and meditation practices use movement of the body and of the mind to point to deep stillness itself. Thus all practices prepare us for meditation and for inner transformation in whatever way this has meaning for the individual.

Anahata has a warm, supportive approach, responding to the individual needs of regular students.   Postures are sensitively adapted to suit all levels including beginners and the experienced. Anahata has a deep respect for the autonomy of yoga students, knowing that essential yoga happens on the inside and cannot be judged by a teacher from the outside form. Students are encouraged to drop a sense of "doing or performing" yoga. Instead when we deeply internalize our embodied experience, we can be in the yoga - and in life - wholeheartedly and freely.

Students will gain most from the classes by attending regularly as throughout the year we will systematically explore the main components of a complete yoga practice. Students are also welcome to come on a casual basis.
